Load balancing for EPM Excel

Hello,

We have installed and configured BPC 10 on BW 7.3. The BW system is a distibuted system with a CI and 2AS. I have two questions regarding the load balancing using the EPM axcel Add-in:

- Can we use the message server HTTP load distribution in the Excel EPM ? so instead of using the :http://[Server]:8080/sap/bpc/

we use http://[Server]:8100/sap/bpc/ while 8100 is the HTTP port for the message server. I tried it but i giot always abn error regarding "Autentication Error"

- Does the load balancing using the SAP Web dispatcher work with the Excel EPM Add-on?

Best regards,

Hassan

Hi,

I am facing a similar issue with load balancing EPM addon,  it seems like the message server is not able to load balance.  anyone resolve this or figure out a way to load balance epm ..

Hello,

As far as I know the configuration of load balancing should not affect EPM Add-in connection directly. BPC leverages the existing SAP components for server to client communication and load balancing.   BPC client components should work with whatever has been configured, as long as they are configured correctly.  I think you might find more information in BPC installation guide.

Hi Hassan

Yes, Web Dispatcher can be used for load balancing of your EPM client connections.

Kindly make reference to the below SAP Note to see if it resolves your issue:

2066036 - Wrong Authentication - The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized when connecting in EPM Add-in

Kind Regards

Thanks fot your answer,

I followed th instructions in the note 2066036 but it did not resolve the issue i have always tjhe "Authentication error" when i use the MS http load balancing.

In the log i have the following :

"ERROR|BPC10Connection|FPMXLClient.Connection.RESTConnection.Connect|username||||

The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Basic realm="SAP NetWeaver Application Server [BP2/590]".
