Top Companies List

Hey SDN,

You don't think so SDN has to maintain TOP company list for each year rather than everytime seeing one monotonus name.

In this way new companies will also start taking more interest at SDN. Everyone is working on SDN only for visibility, some people need there company at TOP, some for own name, and some for getting good job. Let them give others also to take some visbility. You can see many good companies are not showing interest on SDN, and its only because of that.

In companies (other than TOP 10 companies in the LIST of SDN), if someone works for SDN, managers use to say, if working on SDN, means doing nothing, many companies started blocking SDN also, as people like BI Project can create anonyms login and can work.

Hi,

I would personally like to see a "filter" for the company in the top contributors tab where you can find all the top-ranked contributors from an Organization. This would be helpful for the managers in an Organization to identify the resources who are contributing to the SDN network and thereby increasing the Company's Score.

I think we should stay with the top company list as is. What kind of information would you like to get with another kind of ranking as we have for the contributors itself? You would need to take into account the size of the company too, the no. of contributors ....

May be it will be nice to see how the points add up...Just a profile of the company's contribution: Weblogs area, Forums, technical articles, etc.

Hi dear,

I agree with you even if I'm not so sure if we can emphasize in this way the importance of the top companies list as you said ("many good companies are not showing interest on SDN, and its only because of that...").

Don't forget that SDN contribution is, in my opinion, first of all a PERSONAL contribution, because this is the only one with no "side" purpose, a free choice that everyone can embrace: help someone only for the satisfaction to feel important for that !

So, I think that individual score and top list are the real reward system fulcrum (because a lot of people contributes with an account created on a personal mail box and not on the company one...)

Hey Roberto,

I agree with you Roberto. My intention to say this was just to point few big names which are not doing it on personal interest, and making it as full time offcial job.

If its all about personal interest, lets put down the TOP Companies List forever, and <b>switch on to individual users contribution only</b>, and if anyhow we have to maintain the TOP Companies List, lets change some format which will encourage many other companies to show them on SDN.

I too think this is a good suggestion. Although there is

a link of "Top Contributing Companies" on the homepage,

but it has to be a made a bit more apparent.

I do agree it has become a habit of seeing the top individual contributors.

i do agree to all the points mentioned here. Lets have a list of Top Companies but again, lets have a <b>run rate</b> list too. Any company does well in a particular month could be shown some more visibility. So Companies which are under-dogs now, with strong fighting instincts, can show off themselves in SDN. This'll prove to be a encouraging move!

Hello BI and a big hello to others,

I agree to the points, i may also suggest that in case of Top contributors we have a tab strip like "top contributors in last 30 days", " Top contributor", "Points since last contest".

We may have a similar tab strip for Top contributing companies, "like top company in last 30 days", "Total points" etc then new companies in sdn may get a chance to see themselves in SDN List and it also solves the rate at which point comes. Say , a company X has 1000 points so it total top 40 it will not feature but if that X company has won that 1000 points in 20 days and has just started contribution, X will feature in say 35th position in "Top Contributing company in last 30 days".

Just a suggestion, you all have full rights to agree or disagree or debate on it .

Just sharing my personal thoughts.

Hi Everybody,

I think it is a good suggestion from BI Project to have the same reporting features as we have it for individual users also for companies. Perhaps a good suggestion for the next TechEd not only to award Persons. Award also Companies with some Cup "Top SDN Contributor Company of the Year".
