Hi All,

I have switched on navigational attributes in an infoprovider.

When doing the transport do I need to include the cube and its objects below as shown highlighted in yellow ?

Hi All,

Can someone also tell me what is the real significance in switching on the Navigational attributes in a cube.

For example 0Employee has a attribute called age. In a query i can view the attribute by right clicking on the 0Employee infoobject.  Then why to switch on the attribute as navigational?

Hi,

By ticking the navigational attribute of 0employee, the AGE will act similar to a characteristic..Meaning you can make it to SLICE AND DICE data in your query..Display attribute won't allow you to do it..

Please check the link below for detailed explanation of navigational attribute..

Hi,

if you want to see the report of employees who are greater than age 30 (as an example) (or) , you can create  a characteristic variable on age ..  this will allow user to choose age from selection screen.

Hi,

Navigational attribute mean we can use Age attribute as main char while play at report level.

display attributes(Not selected navigational option) can't be possible to drill down like primary info object.

Thanks

Hi,

if your info objects already exist at BW qua then you don't need to collect objects along with info cube.

Just collect info cube structure and continue.

Lets just move cube only and see the changes at Qua. if its reflected then its fine.

if not then again recollect cube with info object which you marked as navigational and move to qua.

Due to the changes of cube you dtp and transformation might be inactive.

so activate them at dev and collect into new transport.

After the info cube transport, move dtp and transformations to bw qua system.

Thanks

Hi Naresh,

you'll need to reactivate all objects anyway, and if this objects are assigned to a package it will ask you to include them in transport.

Hi Naresh,

yes, you need to collect Infocube and its dependent objects (transformation & DTP) when you switch on navigational attribute

collecting inf objects is not needed if the same cube is already in Production system. However apart from switching ON navigational attribute in cube, if you added any new objects which are not available in production, then you need to collect them.

Hi Naresh,

Your intention is to transport the Cube from one system to another right ?

If these Infoobjects are already available in the target system then its not required to select those(Infoobjects).

Hi

Yes the objects are available in the Q system but I have switched on the navigational attribute in the cube. That's it.

So then I do not need to select it right ?

Hi,

you mean you switched on navigational attribute in cube directly in Quality system?

No I switched it on in the DEV system. In Q its not switched on.

ok, you can collect cube and its transformation and DTP to a new transport request.

and if this cube is a source to many other targets then the best practice is to right click cube-->display data flow below and above --> display run time objects-->now you can see what all dependent transformations and DTP are inactive.. activate them and collect in the same above transport request and import to QA.

Hi Naresh,

Exactly you need not collect the infoobjects as its already available.Collect the cube  and transport it.
