Mass change of useful life of Fixed Asset

Hi experts,

Urgent requirement !

We have added 800 new Fixed Assets based on a Fixed Asset class.

The useful life of all the 800 Fixed Assets was defaulted to 1 year based on the setting of Fixed Asset Class.

How can I mass change the useful life of 800 fixed assets to 5 years?

Best Regards

Fred

    Hello Fred,

As you cannot create a Mass Data Run Object (MDRO) for a SAP BO you need to define a Custom BO (with query and action) and built your MDRO on this Custom BO.

Either you have as many shadow instances of your Custom BO which will be found by the query or your ABSL code in the action is smart enough to find the Fixed Assets you want.

Then this action is changing the useful life (or whatever else) of the Fixed Assets.

    HTH,

    HI Fred

I checked the properties of the Fixed Asset BO. Useful life information is not PSM enabled until now.

To implement the mentioned change you would need to request the PSM enablement in an incident first. The colleagues then judge, when this can be done and in best case deliver a hotfix.

Once the hotfix is in your system then you need to implement the mass change as suggested by Horst and then test, etc. - from my gut feeling you are much faster (not sure if also effort wise or only time frame wise) if you use the fixed asset master data report or the OWL to filter for all Fixed Assets and let an intern update one by one.

    Best regards

    • Hi Fred

To be honest - there is no chance to get the funcionality in near future. You can enter an idea in the ideas foru and depending on the votes it might be considered in release planning.

So either SDK or intern 😉

      Best regards
