SAP B1 Implementation at a Coca Cola Bottlers

Dear Experts,

I am in the process of implementing SAP B1 at one of the coca cola bottlers and i have a few questions on "Best Practices" on how to implement some requirements:

  1. Handling of RGB-Returnable Glass Bottles on the filling process bill of materials and how to receive it back once consumed by the production order.Thinking of using return components for this one or is there a better way? Below is the process i want to map:
      • Transfer the RGB from the empty warehouse to production floor.
      • Issue for Production (RGB) gets consumed.
      • Receipt from production to receipt the fully filled liquid
      • Return component to receive the empties back to production floor
      • Transfer the liquid +empty to FG warehouse
      • Dispatch the FG to market (Using Sales BOM to ensure the liquid item and empty goes together)
  2. While i am transferring the FG to finished goods warehouse i want the RGB to be picked automatically. Example lets say i am transferring a case of coca cola 1 ltrs. The system should indicate it is moving with 12 empty RGB on the stocks transfer automatically. How best can we implement such a functionality in SAP B1.

I am hoping i am clear and I appreciate your help on this.

Also if you have a write-up on some tips on implementing SAP B1 for such a vertical or experience you need to share  i will appreciate if you shared.

Regards,

Tonny

Sales BOM is not good for ur purpose, production BOM is good for this.

With production order's help, u could leverage more into it, such as resource to make a bottle of coke with liquid + empty bottle + resources (such as labor, machine, etc)

Dear Frank,

Thanks for your feedback much appreciated.

For production process i am configuring Production BOM with (Syrup + empty bottles + resource) as my inputs and Output as finished product e.g. coke 500 ml.

Now as you might be aware i can only define 1 output on the production order. But the Production Order will consume the syrup and empty bottles. When the output comes out i want to split the liquid from the empty bottles. As during sales i have defined a Sales BOM as the liquid and empty bottles are sold separately which have different prices.

My question is:

  • In SBO whats the best way to implement the scenario where i have (Syrup + empty bottles + resource) as my input and i have (Liquid +Empty bottles as my output)?

        Hints*

    • Putting the empty twice on the BOM with +ve value and -ve value is an option i am reviewing.
    • Use the return component option to return the empties to stocks.
  • In SBO when i am doing a transfer of an item e.g. coke 500 ml from one warehouse to the other I want the related empties be attached to the transfer automatically without the user inputting the items manually on a stocks transfer. Like how the sales BOM does on marketing documents.

Thanks for your help on this.

You should not use Sales BOM any more.

The Sales BOM concept is basically the wrong way to think for your case.
