Vehicle archiving

Hello Friends,

Have you guys worked on vehicle archiving ? I want to know
as mention in sap help,http://help.sap.com/saphelp_dbm700/helpdata/en/0f/a7f23ea4b42e5ae10000000a114084/content.htm

Vehicles can be marked ready to archived and can be archived  using SARA.

Does it also archive the batch & valuation record created and attached with vehicles? Or do we need to archived those separately.

Please share information you have on vehicle archiving.

Thanks

Ritesh

Hi,

Archiving in VMS only archives VMS internal data and its configuration. It removes links to standard R/3 documents created for the vehicle - sales orders, purchase orders etc. However, it does not archive the actual documents (in your case, batch/valuation records) created for the vehicle. However, the BAdI VLC_ARCHIVE could be implemented to achieve this.

Shanthi.

Shanthi Srikanth,

Thanks for quick response.

What do you suggest as best practice to follow?

When ever we create vehicle as per standard SAP setting along with vehicle batch and valuation record got created , if we are archiving vehicles shouldn't we also archive the other connected objects?

Also can you provide more information on BAdI VLC_ARCHIVE a sample scenario or example ?

Appreciate your reply.

Thanks

Hi Ritesh,

The BAdI VLC_ARCHIVE has WRITE and DELETE methods. It has to be implemented so as to read the batch master record of the vehicle and set the archive/deletion flag in these records. When the archiving flag is set in the batch master, the system will archive these records whenever archiving programs are run in the batch application.

Shanthi.

Shanthi Srikanth,

Thanks for reply.

Can we also do same for valuation type, use BAdI VLC_ARCHIVE  and setup archive flag for these too ?

Thanks

HI Ritesh,

I think batch number and valuation type are different fields (CHARG, BWTAR) in the same batch master tables. So, when you are setting the deletion flag for a particular record in the batch master table (say MCHA, MCHB), you are removing that entire row corresponding to the particular batch number in these tables. So, you may want to verify the entries in these tables and their 'where-used' before setting the deletion flag.

Shanthi.
