Dear All,
I was going through the MC40 report.
I have a query regarding the output of MC40 report.
When I run MC40 I understand that based on the past usage of the material ABC curve will be computed.
After viewing the output ,when we click on double - line ,it shows us the consumption quantity and value.
Can any one of you please explain on how(logic for computing) this consumption quantity is calculated.??
It would be of great help.
Value is anways (quantity* price in material master).
Thanks in Advance,
Sowmya
No Mallinath, I haven't checked that field.

Hi Jurgen,
Thanks for the SAP note.It was quite helpful.
I have taken a test material for a plant and tested MC40 with various number of days:
For ex:
My list of Relevant Entries for Consumption were :
Mov. type Posting Date Quantity
201 02.11.2015 3
201 31.10.2015 5
201 26.10.2015 1
201 01.10.2015 1
601 09.09.2015 5
When I give the number of days as 0 then the quantity shown when we click on double analysis is : 3
When I give the number of days as 1 then the quantity shown when we click on double analysis is : 3
When I give the number of days as 2 then the quantity shown when we click on double analysis is : 10
When I give the number of days as 35 then the quantity shown when we click on double analysis is : 15
Can any one please explain the logic for this,it would be of great help.
Thanks and Regards,
Sowmya Varanasy

For the above test data I have tested today also.
Also today I have tested for 0 days ,without doing any GI today.
When I run the MC40 report for 0 days it shows the quantity as 3.
When I run the MC40 report for 1 days it shows the quantity as 3.
When I run the MC40 report for 2 days it shows the quantity as 3.
When I run the MC40 report for 3 days it shows the quantity as 10.
Any update on this logic please let me know.
Have a look into your material master MRP3 view and see the period indicator.
This indicator controls at which level you collect your consumption data.
You see it as well in the material masters consumption view.
Your period is set to M month.
The days in MC40 selection will be used to determine the period. And then SAP is reading table MVER and DVER.
In your case it is just like Nov. 3rd minus 0 is November 3rd,
Nov. 3 minus 1 is November 2nd
Nov. 3 minus 2 November 1st
Nov. 3 minus 3 is October
So you always get the November consumption if you enter days that will determine November period, and October and November Consumption if you hit the October as start period.
Hey Jurgen,
Wow.Thanks a lot for your valuable inputs .
I missed this link regarding period indicator in MRP3 view.
So that means if I want for day to day basis, the fiscal year variant has to be configured for 365 days. which is practically not used ,only then we can see the consumed quantity on day to day basis.
Thanks a lot once again.

Hi Sowmya,
It can be calculated through i.e., annual demand*unit cost = Total Consumption Quality

Hi sowmya,
I am given here annual consumption value is calculated annual demand * unit cost. Normally it was identified by the supplying manager in the inventory.
Normally, Steps as follows:
1. To find out unit cost and the usage of each material over a given period of time.
2. we have to multiply the unit cost by estimated annual usage to obtain the net value.
3. finally, we list out all the items and arrange them in descending value( Annual value).
4. Accumulate value and add up no. of items and calculated percentage on total inventory in value and in number.
in above the ways be the logic behind it.
Thanks,
Vivek
Can any one please advice.

Hi Jurgen,
The user wants to check for an existing material.
I have gone to MSEG to indentify the relevant movements.
List of movements included : 383,315,601,301,453,657,343,962.
For consumption : I considered movement types 601,657 and 201.
Even now if I can check total consumed quantity it is not matching with one showed in MC40.
Is there anything that I am missing.

Potential consumption postings can even come from goods receipts if the purchase order is with account assignment.
The best overview of all movements with possible consumption postings you get from table T156 field KZVBU
OSS note 1832196 - General information on consumption update MVER/DVER provides deep detail how and based on what settings the consumption posting is made

Hi Raghavendra,
Thanks a lot for responding.
I have checked the settings in OMJJ w.r.t . consumption indicator.
But my user wants me to take a sample material show him a demo of how this quantity value is calculated.
Can you please help. How do I do that??
Also what is the relation between the consumption values that we see in the material master > Basic Data2 tab>Additional Data and the value seen in MC40.
Regards,
Sowmya
What is the problem?
Create a material in your test system.
Take a screenshot from the consumption values in the additional data
create inventory using 561 movement
take a screenshot from movement and again from consumption values
Now take a movement with the consumption indicator in OMJJ
and execute a movement
take a screenshot of movement and screenshots of consumption data.
Now execute MC40
compare the consumption
And finally show your work to the user.
