Problem in date format

There is one date characteristic in my query , which has same format with infoobject 0DATE(yyyymmdd)...When I am executing the report that date field is displayed as mm/dd/yyyy , but in the dataprovider the same date field has been displayed as dd/mm/yyyy...I want this format(dd/mm/yyyy) of that characteristic to be displayed in the query..
