Reports Vs Open hub.

Hi Experts.

I belive ,we can save the BEx Report as a .CSV file, what can be used for later analysis, so could u any one tell me Why Open Hub service we need again?

Hi dear,

first of all, saving a BEx report in CSV requires an on line activity while open hub gives the possibility to manage what you want in structural way, in background and in a process chain...

Maybe you comparison have to be done between RSCRM_BAPI transaction (on which you can schedule a download of a query extract) and Open Hub...

Open Hub allows to do some mofication on your extract (via BADI implementation..) and, above all, could work in delta mode ! Then it takes data from a provider, that is a little different that do it on report level !

Besides, you can post your data durectly on a DB table...

Hi Harry,

The basic purpose of reporting is analysis whereas Open hub is used for further distributing data.

BEx report may be the final outcome, but one would use Open hub for taking the data to another system/destination as a result it could be further changed to be finally presented in a report.

Normally you would not use a .csv file created from a report for further upload, if you need to automate the extraction of data from BW it is advisable to use open hub.

Hi Harry,

Purpose of Open hub is exclusivey for data transfer from BW to Non-SAP systems.

you can do it through flat files (.csv) or store data in tables in Bw & connect these tables to extenal system (Non SAP) to extract data.

please share your mail id in case you need some stuff on Open Hub.
