Replication server in hibernation mode

Former Member

Hello Gurus,

We have installed and configured the ASE Replication for all our

production systems .We are encountering major issues on the ECC

Production system where replication of transaction logs are stopped

.This

occured when we had power shutdown and since then replication stopped

so

we tried to disable the replication and tried to enable its giving

error

hibernation mode. Also we want to know if materialization is necessary

for

this process - Currently our systems are in other location i.e. 10 KMS

away from HO and soon it will be also shifted to 500KMS AwAY.

In short -2 Issues (Logs Attached)

1.Need to fix Hibernation mode error

2.Do we need to re-materialise the database again or not required

Sybase REPL ASE Patch 135

OS : Windows 2008 R2

I am also aware that we can issue sysadmin hibernate_off once we add the partition .When I check admin disk_space its full.

I tried create partition but im not able to do as in ase database we use disk init here in rep server not sure how we can create

Appreciate if any one suggest

Regards

Asim

Hello Arhan,

As you are talking about ECC, I assume you have HADR with Replication Server implemented in a Business Suite environment.

To understand the Hibernation mode error, as Terry mentioned, we would need to check the RS log, as well as the DR.log

To disable/enable replication use the sap_disable_replication/sap_enable_replication DR Agent commands. And after executing these commands, it is mandatory to re-materialize, using sap_materialize DR Agent command.

To create a partition, use the sap_add_device DR Agent command, it will add an additional partition device to the SRS associated with the logical site name you specify.

For details about DR Agent commands, please consult the HADR User's Guide ->

Hi Arhan

Lets see if I can answer some of your questions.

1) To investigate further I would need to see what the actuall errors is.  If you can cut and paste enough of the RS log that shows the hibernation_mode errors we can investigate.

2) Since you are trying to disable replication you will need to re materialize since all information in the queue will be lost.

Can I also get more details on the version of RS you are using, if you could run the following command in the RS?

admin version

go

If you are recieving hibernation_errors because admin disk_space shows that everything is full then you can always use the 'create partition' command to add another partition to the RS and once that is done you may be able to put it into hibernation mode?

You can find this command in the Replication Server Refrence Manual found here:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_repserver1571301/helpdata/en/fe/705d10bd1c101480a5e47d805a327e/content.h...

You can keep this partition as long as needed, when you are done cleaning up the RS you can drop the partition, if it is no longer needed using the 'drop partition' command.

You can find this command also in the Replciation Server Refrence Manual found here:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_repserver1571301/helpdata/en/fe/73be0dbd1c10148193ece428b2d24e/content.h...

Hope this will help get things started

Regards
