Hi,
I have isolated derived table class folders, each folders have fiscal year/period prompt filters built at the universe level....
At webi report this filter is mandatory and should show one fiscal year/period prompt filter by keeping the same prompt text. Could you please assist is it good to go with these settings at the universe and the report level.
Thanks,
Dinya
Hi,
First you needs to understand how these options will work.
Use Filter Mandatory in query (Apply on Universe) :If you select this option then no needs to add filter condition manually (drag the filter in filter panel).Automatically users will get the prompt option to enter the value in webi query.
Use Filter Mandatory in query (Apply on Class):If you select this option then when ever user drag the object from this particular class, users will get the prompt to enter the values in webi query.
In your case where independent classes for independent derived table, this option will not work.Like if you will create the filter on delhi derived table objects and select the option "Use Filter Mandatory in query (Apply on Universe)" then If you create the webi report on top of Mumbai class, you will get the prompt because you have selected the filter as "Use Filter Mandatory in query (Apply on Universe)" .
Better option is do not select "Use Filter Mandatory in query" option for any filter. When these filter required manually/drag these filters in webi filter panel.

Hi,
Right i have independent classes for independent derived table(but same query) built on one universe design and one webi report with independent report Tabs for each derived table say delhi tab1, mumbai tab2 etc..
Just curious to cut short the Fiscal Year/Period filters repeating in each independent derived table class folders to have as one Fiscal Year/Period filters. As suggested "Better option is do not select "Use Filter Mandatory in query" option for any filter. When these filter required manually/drag these filters in webi filter panel" which is what the currently applied at the report level..
Thanks,
Dinya.
Hi,
Also your thoughts of create Custom LOV's at universe level for let say Fiscal Year /Period from delhi class.
selecting the custom LOV's for Delhi Fiscal Year /Period diemsnion object
in webi keep the same prompt text for both .Select the"prompt with list of values" option in Prompt option for Delhi fiscal month/year prompt. because i have added the custom lov's for Delhi object.
For Mumbai unchecked the "prompt with list of values"option.with this you will get the all values from Delhi fiscal month/year object.
OR
Creating universe defined Prompt filters for each derived table manually/drag these filters with prompt dropdown selection in webi filter panel...
Thanks,
Dinya.
Hi,
Either you will create universe filters or prompts conditions at webi query level both are same.only difference is when you create universe filters you can use same multiple times in webi instead of creating prompts at webi level every time.
regarding custom LOV's either you will go with universe filters or create prompts at webi level ,in both the cases you have to go with two webi queries one for delhi and one for mumbai. needs to add the universe filters or webi level prompts in both the queries from respective filters/objects.
If prompt text is same in both the webi queries then you will get the prompt window to enter value only once.
Webi report display the LOV's from the filter/object prompt where highest options are selected.for that i said to when you are going to create filter or webi prompt select the option "Prompt with List of values" option for delhi prompt condition.
With this you will get the prompt once and custom LOV's from Delhi Object.
Better to start building the report and in case you will get any issue then post.

Hi Amit,
As iam creating an independent report tabs for each data provider of derived tables, have an thought process will it do union by default at webi having prompt text as same for both dataproviders delhi and mumbai or
Other to create Custom LOV's at universe level for let say Fiscal Year /Period from delhi class. webi prompt select the option "Prompt with List of values" option for delhi prompt condition. With this you will get the prompt once and custom LOV's from Delhi Object.
Thanks,
Dinya.
Hi,
You can create @prompt for same.
This will help you to create prompt with same text in every report.
What you have to do is simply drag the object having @prompt definition in every report you are creating.
I hope this will help.:
For more detail on @prompt refer below link:
