Dashboard stops working when several chart fonts are referenced to a cell

I have been having this problem for a very long time now, when I reference a few of my components to a reference cell (I am using a HEX#) my dashboard completely messes up. When I preview the dashboard or export it I am not able to view certain charts or certain items resize on their own.

What I have tried already:

  • Strictly use alphanumeric HEX codes
  • Limited myself to a few colors
  • Used 1 color per type (font, axis, guidelines, etc)
  • Made sure HEX does not appear more than once in my spreadsheet
  • For example if the Pie Chart gets resized or disappears, I'll delete it and bring in a new one
  • I was using 4.1, I downgraded to 4.0 and rebuilt my entire dashboard

I am very lost here. I lost over 3 weeks worth of work due to this problem I am continuously facing. I've attached 1 version of dashboard I was working on that is giving me this problem. This was a design I was working on, I do not have access to most of my work since I downgraded my dashboard version.

Thanks in advance guys!

I have not found a fix to use a cell as a reference to a color code. What I did instead is I created a custom theme and and changing most of my colors in my theme. Whatever my theme does not control, I'll change the color under appearance in the component properties with a custom RGB color. The one problem with this work around is if you make any changes to the theme after making a change to an individual component the theme will override the component custom color. For example:

    1. In the theme, I do not assign a color to a series in a column chart.
    2. I changed the font color in the theme.
    3. I assign a custom color to my series in my column chart in the component properties to green for example.
    4. If I go back to my theme to change something completely different (anything) it will change my series color (green) to whatever the theme has.

This is a problem if you have 1 graph that you want different colors than the rest of your graphs for example if you introduce forecasting to one chart but not the rest and you want your forecast data as a different color than the rest.

Hope this helps anyone else with this problem. Please share how you overcome this if you do come across this problem.
