Hi Amine

Seems you have double clicked on the Infoobject, not the variable.

If you double click on the variable, it will give you the first screen. The second screen is from your infoobject.

When you double click on the infoobject, it gives you the option to restrict the same with any variables or individual values. As you could see from the second screenshot, the infoobject is showing that its already restricted to the variable and giving other options to choose from.

If you click on the drop down list, it will show you variables, single value, ranges, history and favorites.

Regards

Karthik

That's your info-object on which your variable is created.

Hi,

that is the info object description on which variable is created as said by Karthik

and if you need to know more about why and what is this variable for, here are some steps

its a characteristic variable which will be appearing on the selection screen when the report ran, from the screen shot, i understood that this infoobject has 'open' and 'completed' values.

users can run reports either for open status alone (or) completed status alone(if the variable is set as single/multiple/selection/interval)

if the variable set with some default value like either open or completed (you can find this details in variable) then when the report ran, for this infoobject in the selection screen, the default value will be populated.

Hi Amine,

We have 5 types of variable in SAP BI:

This variables usage varies based on its processing types.

1) Characteristics Variables 2) Text variables   3) Formula Variables   4) Hierarchy Variable and 5) Hierarchy node variable

we have 5 processing types as well.

1) Manual Entry   2) Replacement path   3) Authorizations 4) Customer Exit   5) SAP Exit

The one mentioned in your screenshot falls in the category of  characteristic value with manual entry

Thanks
