Dear Experts,
I have already uploaded the FM Funds Center Master Data through LSMW successfully.
Now I need to edit just one field 'Person Responsible: User Name' under the tab Basic Data.
As there are around 300 Funds Centers, this modification needs to be effective in all and in same way.
I shall mention that Final Budget (Ver 0) has also been posted and subsequently consumed on various Funds Centers.
I have read relevant document from SAP online library but it is applicable to Former Budgeting only while I am on BCS.

Please advise for most appropriate solution.

Hi,
Changing master data for the field in question is not affected by the fact that you have already budgetary figures posted. You can perfectly do this change. As for creation, you can do LSMW or, if you prefer, to update the data directly in the table, as 'Person responsible' is not 'sensitive' field and, in theory, can be updated directly in data table.

Eli

Dear Eli,
Your feedback is valuable as always.
I consulted my ABAPER colleague re editing data in table through SE16N. He recommended not to use this approach as this modification is to be done on PRD (though field to edit is not sensitive).
Alternatively I created new LSMW giving t-code FMSB in recording. This took some time but worked without error.
I assume there is no other way available addressing the issue.
Thanks for your support.

No, there is no standard transaction for mass maintenance of FM data. Whether to choose SE16N (&sap_edit) or not, that's purely on the discretion of the project manager. I've seen different approaches, from one extremity (where &sap_edit is used daily) to another (where it's not allowed to use it at all, even if there is a clear advantage in terms of efficiency).
