Creating a promotion

Dear Experts,

We got an requirement for promotion planning in APO.I am facing an issue while creating a promotion through /SAPAPO/MP34

When I go to the T-code its giving me a popup as below

No valid version exists for planning area '9ADP01'

Do you want to initialize a planning version?

we are not using the planning area 9ADP01. We have the other PA which is initialized and need to plan the promotions.

Please help me resolve the issue. are there any things to be considered at Planning area level before we create promotions.

Hi Yadagiri,

Before starting configuration of promotion planning, there are a list of pre-requisite activities which has to be completed. It is enlisted below –

• An active planning area is present with atleast two key-figures – One for storing forecast and another for promotion
• Planning Book/Data View has been created with these two key-figures
• During creation of planning book, promotion planning feature has been enabled

Also check if you have defined promotion key figure and characteristic on which promotion needs to be setup (Transaction - /SAPAPO/MP33).

Also may be you can check which planning book/data view is assigned to your id in /SAPAPO/SDPPLBK.

Hi Yadagiri,

There are two possibilities - Either you have not maintained the promotion key figure or the promotion level, OR you have not specified a planning book and data view.

Please check following two things -

1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization -> Demand Planning -> Planning -> Promotion -> Settings -> Maintain Promotion Key Figures, and maintain the promotion key figure and promotion level.

2. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization -> Demand Planning -> Environment -> Current Settings -> Assign User to Planning Book, and specify a planning book and data view.
