Clarification on a document for Flat File load using Process chain

Hello Gurus,

I am doing POC for Flat File load using Process chain. I researched on google and found multiple threads which are talking about this process. The best one i felt was here:-…

However, this document gives lot of screen shots but less explanation. So just clarification purposes can some one help me understand the process.

As per the document (and my understanding) here are the steps author performed:-

  1. Create a Table (ZTEST)
  2. Create a Program (ZINS_PATH in se38 This program will populate data from CSV file to ZTEST Table)
  3. Create Datasource, Infopackage etc.
  4. Create a TCODE in SE93. User will run this TCODE to load file and will reference ZINS_PATH program in the TCODE.
  5. Create an event in SM64 for Process chain (ZPATH_IN)
  6. Create PC and in Event Refere ZPATH_IN.

Is this the correct sequence and steps or am I missing anything.

above steps fine but make sure while writing the  SE38 program data will full form CSV to ZTEST program.

how you are loading the data daily or weekly

for this program will support only full load not delta loads

do the testing in test system let us know results.

Thanks Phani for your response. Something is wrong as whenever I run the TCODE created in SE93 as per step 4, my BW user account gets locked.

      Why is that happening?

here is the screen shot of my TCODE

Also when I check it it says its inconsistent. Why is that so?

    Hi Shalini,

The document which you are referring is pulling data from a table which get loaded by a flat file directly from users  in ECC (or) R/3  to BW system. and when users execute the tcode: se93, after they choose the CSV file, the ABAP program runs in backed which loads the data in table and then raises an event to trigger the process chain in BW automatically.

As mentioned by Phani, this doesn't support delta loads, but in the document, it is being loaded to a custom master data (ZMAT_PLANT), where data can be overwritten.

And if you have similar scenario but you need to load the transaction data, then you can load the delta's by choosing the delta pointer from the generic data source ( you can search about generic data source delta concepts from SCN).

Lastly, if you requirement is load data from flat file which is present in BW application server, then you can simply schedule the process chain by choosing the path from AL11 directory in info package and then run the DTP.

so the design/modelling get changes according to requirement.
