In-Transit Inventory

Former Member

I have two separate questions, both regarding in transit inventory.

1. Is there a way to restrict all products that are received into a specific logistics location?

Example: Company X purchases finished goods from Company Y.  Shipping terms are FOB Shipping point.  From an accounting perspective, Company X needs to recognize the inventory once on the truck.  Company X receives the in transit inventory into restricted logistics location "In-Transit", however warehouse manager notices that received inventory is being applied to customer back orders (even though the inventory is currently not in the building)

I understand that the goods can be restricted once they are received in to the "In-Transit" location, but should my associate forget to do so it creates a headache within customer demand.

2. Is there a way to have restricted in transit inventory excluded from customer demand restricted stock.  Right now we have to use two different SAP reports to find out what is on the water and what is restricted at our location.  Its not an awful process, but if there was a way for it to be excluded it would allow the organization to become more efficient.

Looking forward to hearing some other organizations solutions.

Thanks,

Drew

Answer:  In the current version you cannot restrict all products that received into your warehouse however you can make the make the stock move to quality inspection.

you will have to manually make the stock to restricted

Note : You should note that stock marked quality inspection is considered for planning ( sales order ATP) till customer demand however this is not considered for execution you will not be able to release the same from customer demand to delivery proposal --------> to further processing.

I am not fully clear to answer your question however if the stock is restricted it is not considered for planing. If you provide more information with example i can explain further
