ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid

Hi,

We have newly upgraded to SAP BI 4.1 and we have converted Deski report to webi report, the reports got fully converted but we still receive error  while running the report.   ORA-00980: Synonym translation is no longer valid .

Hi

Cause:-The synonym used is based on Table,View or synonym that is no longer in existence.

You can replace the synonym with the name of object it refer or re-create the synonym so that it refers to a valid table,View or synonym.

It might be possible that you have created a synonym on non-existing object by mistake. For example, if you created a synonym on Collage.DEPT now  either the Collage schema in not present or the DEPT table is exist in the database.

Second thing you might dropped an object but you did not drop the synonyms referencing the object.Better i suggest to direct use the table name instead of schema name or synonym.

If a synonym refers to an object that does not exist or is INVALID, an ORA-00980

error occurs when you access the synonym.

Could You run the generated SQL directly on the DB?

The problem should be caused by: the synonym used is based on a table, view, or synonym that no longer exists.

I suggest to replace the synonym with the name of the object it references or re-create the synonym so that it refers to a valid table, view, or synonym.
