Datasource segment

Hi experts,

After installing a datasource from business content, i noticed that this one has segments.

What a segment stands for? if i want to create a transformation from this datasource, do i have to choose the segment?

Does the data in each segment related between them?

What a segment stands for?

A:  Segment is nothing but structure for the data source.

if i want to create a transformation from this datasource, do i have to choose the segment?

A:No, sap takes care of it internally, you no need to select anything. While creating DTP and transformation , hierarchy manages it automatically.
