Avoid editing of Debitors

Dear Experienced and Enlighted C4C Users,

we are facing a problem:

We have Customers and Prospects, it is a rule that Prospects can be edited by any Person within Sales Department. If it is a Customer it is synced with our ERP System and we want to avoid any changes.

Only one Department is allowed to change Customers.

So I used Page Layouts and disabled the text boxes and assigned all Sales Teams to that new Layout. So they can ADD new Prospects, but now editing of them is also not possible.

Is there a more clever way to say C4C: IF prospect EDIT == Yes ELSE EDIT == No.

Regards,

Nils

Hi Nils,

You were correct in using a page layout. Just take it a couple of steps further.

Create two page layouts. For example "edit propsects" & "view customers"

On edit prospects leave everything visible. I would just advise against master layout asyou never know what might change in the future.

On view customers, make sure everything is display only. Now when assigning page layouts, choose "Object Type"= Account & "Instance"= Role.

Under the column for Prospects assign the "edit prospects" page layout to relevant business roles. And under "customer" column assign the "view customers" page layout. This should achieve the edit limitation

Dear Grayson,

brilliant reply! Thanks. I just tested it and will now implement that in our productive system. I was not aware of THIS possibilities with assigning Layouts. I just thought about ONE LAYOUT per defined User role.

Nils
