Hi Harini,

I look at BPC as a top down planning tool which considers many factors, at least more than inventory and sales. IBP is more of a bottom up planning solution focused on the inventory and its movements, such as through sales etc.

Both solutions have a need and a place and I don't think this will change.

The real advantage is that with both solution we have our overall plan and we can see that they actually do meet in the middle and if not we can plan to resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

Adam

BPC is a planning tool based on BW, existing since years

IBP (the SCM-IBP, there is as well a finacial IBP) is a very modern planning tool, written specifically for HANA, managed in the cloud, integrated via HCI. Or better, IBP is a platform with several functionalities such as SOP, Supply, Demand, Control Tower, Inventory etc. If at all you could compare IBP for SOP with BPC, but there is a supply side which BPC dors not have

All together it is a kind of new world for SCM, whereas BPC is one specific module

THere are trainings availabke from SAP university, just search for IBP

YOur question is a bit weired for answering, maybe others can do better. What woumd you answer if I asked you what you need to know for BPC?

ok, you may look at Finance IBP than rather than SCM IBP, and I never know in which chat room I end up ... For SCM IBP you have IBP itself, you have Fiori as Web-UI, you have Excel as user interface for planning, and you need to know HCI for interfaces if you are in the cloud. I would expect similar for Finance IBP, but to be honest I have no clue. SCM IBP focus on SCM topics including the supply side, but it can handle prices and valuations and entering values in value and calculate quantities out of that via prices and vice versa, handle UoM and currency conversion. But Finance IBP has more business content related to specific financial requirements. SCM IBP itself is not the ONE tool , but a platform which has many basic functionality valid for all application within. There is a one-week basic training on the fundamentals. Than there is another week advanced training on top of that. And you have additional trainings, e.g. one day for Control Tower etc

Is IBP replaces BPC?

Hi Harini

IBP is not replacement of BPC.

Moreover, IBP can be integrated with BPC.   For example - IBP can take input from BPC for Annual Operation Plan(AOP), Monthly/Quarterly Finance Plan and Use this information for Demand/Supply/S&OP planning.

Then IBP can send output like Mid and Long Term Plan, Constrained Collaborative Plan, Revenue and Profit Plans to BPC as a detailed starting point for financial planning in BPC.

This integration brings the value by - Align financial plan with S&OP inputs, Improve corporate forecast accuracy.

That's just my two cents..hope this will help.

Thank you
