what is the advantage and disadvantage of subreports and Hyperlink in crystal reports

Sridhar,

Few advantages

• Subreports when properly implemented can enhance the End User experience and reduce the workload on the Infrastructure thereby improving your ROI.
• Subreports allow control over when and what additional data is to be displayed.
• Subreports allow you to use multiple data sources in to a single report and Allow you to pass data and variables at runtime between unrelated data sources to make professional single view reports.

Disadvantages:

Subreports can increase processing time if they are not on demand.

Hi Sridhar,

I'm going to write only 1 point for advantage and 1 point for Do's and Don't's.

Advantage:

Sub Report can be looking at a different schema than main report itself.

Do's:

Put the sub-report in the Report Header line and not in the Detail line, because if you put it in Detail line, the sub-report will be calculated/generated once per detail row, which is not the optimized way to do it.
