Numbers of chars

As you can see on the picture, I defined Number of Chars 30, what it does mean?

Hello Anujit,

According to your data type selection and no of char, you can assign the char value to this characteristic.

Max you can enter the value here is “30”

Total number of characters that you can enter when you assign a value to this characteristic. This figure includes the number of decimal places.

You can check in your system also, Set the no of char as 5, according to this no of char, system allow you in char value only 5 character.

Please use the F1 key to know about the any field detail.

Select the field and press F1,

please check the SAP help for Creating, Changing, and Displaying Characteristics.

Here, the details for character format: Data Types Character Format - Characteristics (CA-CL-CHR) - SAP Library

At the end of the day, it's the length of the characteristic value, 30 digits maximum.
