# Group total based on calculated filed

Hi, I have a report that I need to calculate group total which is based on a running total field. I got the "This field cannot be summarized" error. Can someone help me? Here is my report

User

Open Work Order

(running total work order count if the status is open reset at group 1)

FTE

(Open Work Order/FTE)

User 1 58 1 58 User 2 78 1 78 User 3 84 0.8 105 Totals 220 2.8 241

I need to add FTE Adjusted column to get 241 but I cannot use either summarized field or running total. Is there another way to calculate it?

I resolved the issue by creating a formula for open worker order: if status = 'open' then 1 else 0 and put it in the detail section, then divided this with FTE adjusted then do summary totals for the group.

The "Field Cannot be Summarized" ...because it's already a Summary type field since it's a running total . if you just place another copy of the field in the Group footer , it will repeat the last value of the running total.

....... but I suspect that what you really want is the total of all the running totals. To do that, you just need another running total field ( Make a duplicate and edit it ) just like the first one, but now it "resets" on a different Higher) group level ( or "never" for a Grand Total )

Thank you for your quick response.

Here is the problem I have, column "Open Work Order" is a running total reset at user group level, FTE is each user's working hours, FTE Adjusted = Open Work Order/FTE. When I tried to do a running total for FTE Adjusted, it is not in the list of available fields. Then I tried add a formula fields Sum({@FTE Adjusted}, {@Group}), and I got the field cannot be summarized error. It looks like I cannot sum FTE Adjusted column 😔
