Disconnecting Users

Can anyone confirm the potential impact of routinely disconnecting clients from an ADS please? I can only assume this would be considered bad practice but will it cause potential corruption?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    As you mentioned it is not routine practice to forcibly disconnect users from Advantage. However, users can get disconnected for a variety of environmental reasons (i.e. network or pc failure) as well as users closing applications unexpectedly. The Advantage Database Server will preserve the data integrity so I would expect a very low possibility of data corruption.

    If users are disconnected when they have a record lock then that record may remain locked for a brief period of time until Advantage cleans up the connection. This would be compounded if the user was in a transaction when disconnected. However, I don't expect the lock(s) to be held for very long.
