SAP PP Things to keep in mind when changing from PD to ROP MRP Type

All,

I am setting up re order point planning for already existing finished products at my selling plant for the procured items from my MFG plant, and i am thinking about the following items during this change on material master, please let me know if i am thinking straight and if i have missed anything,

  • The First MRP run after MRP type change to ROP, the MRP run time takes longer as it is deleting a lot of planned orders.

  • With ROP it will create only one proposal such as a planned order or a purchase requisition for requirements it needs to cover within the lead time and reorder point it needs to meet.

  • No more planned order release will be visible in my MFG plant for future months, except for one as a result of above point. In the past MFG plant used to see future planned order releases in MFG Plant, as MRP in Selling Plant generated planned orders for all VSF forecast for future months. Now it will not create due to re order point.

  • None of the MRP elements will be deleted except the planned orders that was created  for future months during PD MRP type last MRP run.

  • My Forecast consumption for VSF (strategy 40) will not be affected when sales order comes in at my selling point ( Kind of not sure!! ), it will still consume forecast VSF based on my consumption settings on my MRP type or MRP4 tab ( I am setting to Backward consumption )

  • The ONLY ONE Planned order or Purchase Requisition created will be created just exactly outside the replenishment lead time, i.e if my RLT is 7 days and today is 12th Oct, the proposal will be on 20th Oct ( considering factory calendar )

Any thing else that I need to worry about ?

Thanks for input

Hello,

Please refer SAP note    550954 - FAQ: Consumption-based planning

The standard system does not display dependent requirements and subcontracting requirements in case of consumption-based planning with reorder point planning.

If you want to display also the dependent requirements, refer to SAP Note 37697 which contains a modification for that purpose.

Hi Brahmankar,

Thanks. I will check. but when you mentioned dependants requirements, you mean the finished product BOM' components right?

in my selling plant i do not have BOM setup or i do subcontracting for these products, so if that the case, i should not worry about it right ?

thanks

Hello,

I would suggest better you test it in quality system and come back.

In addition, dependent requirements are not displayed on MD04.

Caetano,

thanks. You mean if my Finished Product has BOM, then the components are not planned ?
