Not Getting option in SWPM10SP08 for SAP on RAC with Oracle ASM

Hello,

We started installation of SAP Netweaver 7.4 SR2 Installation on Oracle RAC with ASM on Windows Server 2012 R2.

But we did not get the screen to select the option “RAC with Oracle ASM” for SAP Installation on Windows.

DB Oracle 12c

Oracle RAC and Grid Infrastructure is already setup.

We need to install SAP NW 7.4 SR2

Screen showing Options as below for SAP Installation does not come up while installing SAP on Windows Server 2012 R2 with Oracle RAC ASM

1. Single instance on Filesystem
2. Single instance on shared oracle
3. single instance on oracle ASM
4. RAC on Filesystem
5. RAC on Oracle ASM

We are using SWPM10SP08.

Hi Parin,

You may need to check SAP note:

1977393 - Oracle RAC Installation Support in SWPM

It should be supported to use swpm to install RAC.

Have you ever seen option called “RAC with Oracle ASM” , because for my understanding, asm could be default during RAC installation. You may try option to install RAC, ASM may come in next step.

I have already checked the below SAP Notes.

Also, I checked White Papers from link http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-8835

Most of them are related to Unix/Linux

We are facing problem while installing SAP on Windows 2012 Server R2.

We also tried latest SWPM10SP09 but we don't get the Database Installation Options as I have mentioned.

Same options screen appear for SAP Installation on Linux/Unix.

Can anyone please help or let us know the work around to install SAP NW 7.4 SR2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Oracle 12.1 RAC with ASM ?

Please Note : Oracle RAC is already set up by our DBA

We need to install SAP, selecting the Database Installation Option as "RAC with Oracle ASM"

Hello Ashutosh,

We had raised SAP OSS Message for the same to which we got a call saying SAP NW 7.4 SR2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Oracle 12.1 RAC with ASM installation option is not available.

The work around is to install SAP on Windows 2012 R2 with normal Oracle Database and then move the Oracle Database on RAC with ASM.

However, the movement of Database on Oracle RAC with ASM is not supported by SAP.

So, that's an individual call whether to proceed or not.

Dear Parin,

Thank you for the response.

We are having a different scenario . We have installed oracle RAC on linux but we are installing the PAS/CI on windows. When we are installing the CI on windows , we are not getting the option

"oracle on RAC"  which need to be select so that sapinst will take the scan listener input.

is it possible for you to share the migration document?

We had dropped the plan to install SAP on Windows and Oracle RAC.

We too experienced the same thing.

We didn't see the screen with below options to install SAP on Windows.

3. single instance on oracle ASM

4. RAC on Filesystem

5. RAC on Oracle ASM

I believe you can't have SAP on Windows if you want to use ORACLE RAC, no matter ORACLE RAC is on Linux or Unix or Windows.

If you try to install CI on Linux or Unix, you will get the SAP Installation options as I have mentioned.

I suggest to create a OSS Ticket with SAP Support.

Let us know if you find any solution or work around.
