How can we add external inventory locations without impact on the company financials?

We are a manufacturing company producing for 2 customers ; All produced products for customer number 1 are stored in our warehouse and reflected in our inventories.

Customer number 2 products are stored in external warehouse and inventory are sold to the customer , therefore inventories are not reflected anymore in our warehouse and stock values for customer number 2 are zero.

Therefore; for all customer # 2 products net requirements are generated and also requirements for materials in FP BOM and they are actually not required.

Also sales and inventory cycles cant be tracked.

My question:

How can we add the customer external storage location for the required products to be able to be linked to our inventories ,therefore no requirements will be generated unless actually required, and in the same time with no impact on our actual inventories (Finance balance sheet)?

Hi Gamal,

you can easily achieve it by mrp area in which you can exclude the stock from one storage location.

Thanks Solomon;

The problem I have is not to exclude , I want to add the external locations to our locations but with no financial impact.

Hello,

Please move this thread into below node. The issue is related to Materials Management of Stock inclusion into your existing plant w/o any financial impact.

Hi Gamal,

Planning and Procurement prospective we can exclude the storage location for MRP through OMIR transaction code..

i.e. stock will be there in that location but system will not consider while planning

but finance prospective we have to see others opinion..

The problem is that the inventory is not actually present therefore requirements are generated to replenish the safety stocks although it is actually present but at the customer end and not visible at our inventory. my question is how to make it visible in our inventory but with no impact to the actual inventory(Balance sheet) as they were already previously sold.

hi Gamal,

how do you transfer goods to the external storage location? is the storage location at customer end? are you talking about consignment stock?

if your requirement is to transfer the stock to the storage location where it does not consider in mrp run but you can see the stock in your plant. then you can use mrp area. also you can have safety stock for mrp area.

Hi Solomon;

Our process is we manufacture the products to our customer and the finish goods are transferred to our warehouse storage locations but after this we sell those quantities to our customer.and inventory is transferred out our warehouse to the customer storage.

The problem is that the physical inventory is found at the customer end and I may be satisfying the safety stocks but the inventory in our warehouse is zero , therefore the system generates requirements and I don't need these requirements.

I want a solution to be able to add the inventory at the customer end in our system as the system to create requirements according to the actual inventory in hands and in the same time cant be added to our inventory as we already sold it.
