Increase length of Infoobject without deleteing data

Hi ,

I need to increase the length of a characteristic Infoobject from 12 to 20.

When I go to RSD1->Increase the length , it gives me below errors :-

InfoObject ZACC_FI (or ref.) used in InfoProvider containing data-> Error:

Master Data Table /BIC/PZACC_FI contains data: Characteristic ZACC_FI cannot be activated

SID Table /BIC/SZACC_FI contains data: Characteristic ZACC_FI cannot be activated

I have tried Adjusting the tables using SE14.

But still the activation doesnt work.

I do not want to delete the data as its already Live in Production.

Kindly suggest.

    Hi,

Conversion of both tables /BIC/PZACC_FI and /BIC/SZACC_FI has to be executed first and afterwards the activation should be possible. It could be that the system has created a "mass processing request" which needs to be scheduled as a background job.

You can check the conversion using the Database Utility (i.e. t/code SE14) but it can also be reached via InfoObject maintenance (e.g. via t/code RSD1). Go to the respective master data table and choose menu path: Utilities > Database Object > Database Utility

If you see here a (blue) text like:

    Mass processing request: "Adjust"

The request is not yet assigned to a job

Click then on the push button Display Rest

If you enter now in the List of Mass Processing Requests, display All Requests.

Then select the request, enter the Schedule Selections, set Start Time to Immediate and Save

    Some explanation:

Such a "mass processing request" might be created because such tables can contain a lot of data. The request is still pending and must be executed. After that it should be possible to activate Characteristic ZACC_FI.

Now you should be able to activate Characteristic ZACC_FI.

If such a "mass processing request" is not present, then you have to trigger the conversion manually. In the Database Utility you select Direct (in foreground) or Background. Click then Activate and Adjust Database.

Next step is to activate Characteristic ZACC_FI.

    Best regards,

    Sander

    • Hi,

As mentioned in your reply of Oct 12, 2015 9:05 AM, you were not able to activate Characteristic ZACC_FI. What is the status right now? Is the Characteristic active?

You mentioned that there were error messages during activation. Therefor I asked i my reply of Oct 19, 2015 12:57 AM to share the error messages as detailed as possible (incl. message class and no.).

Last but not least, I suggest to change the allowed characters in t/code RSKC to ALL_CAPITAL.

      Best regards,

      Sander

    HI,

select the master data object tables like P,S tables.

go to SE14 -> give the table name -> select -> activate and adjust tables.

    Thanks,

    Phani.

    Hi

Did you tried with remodeling. Alternate is create and load to a back up. Compare original with back up. Delete from original. Change as per requirement. Create mapping from back up to original. Reload original from back up. Compare. Delete back up.

    Thanks

      Hi Samreen.

Indeed, remodeling will not work for info object.

Alternate way is that you can download the data into a CSV format file. And after delete and change load the file via APD to the info object.

This you can use if the SE14 does not work for you.

      Thanks
