Re-importing subreport causes crash

Right-clicking on a subreport and selecting the Re-import subreport command is causing Crystal Reports to freeze.

System Details:

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
  • Crystal Reports 14.0.11.1696 (CR 2011 SP11)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a new blank report, save as Report.rpt
  2. Create a new blank report, save as Subreport.rpt
  3. In Report.rpt, insert Subreport.rpt as a subreport
  4. Right-click on the subreport object and select Re-import subreport
  5. Accept the warning dialog

This causes Crystal Reports to crash, with the window becoming unresponsive. The crw32.exe process in Task Manager shows no CPU usage, and very low memory usage.

Hi Aaron,

Try upgrading to CR 2013 to see if it resolves the issue.

I can confirm this issue is resolved by upgrading to CR2013. (In my case, version 14.1.4.1327, CR2013 SP4)
