Hello everybody!
With note 1953429 it is possible to install HANA and AS ABAP on 1 server. We plan to migrate our SAP BW 7.40 to HANA.
My question: Where do we put AS Java that is in place?
Best regards,
Gerald
Hi Gerald,
You have 2 options to place the JAVA instance on HANA system
1. Up to version SPS08: Create a new schema for JAVA on the same HANA instance along with ABAP. It has a few challenges with System refresh from Prod to non prod that will have the JAVA system automatically refreshed
Please refer below documentation for more inputs
http://scn.sap.com/thread/3683255
2. From SPS09 you could set up a Multitenant Database container(MDC) setup and create a dedicated JAVA instance along with another instance for ABAP
You can refresh the ABAP instance alone in this setup without any impact to the JAVA instance
Hope this helps
Sunil

Hi Sunil,
thanks for your response. We discussed again, today:
It is fine that AS ABAP and JAVA can share the the HANA MDC.
And with note 1953429 we can put the AS ABAP on the HANA server as well.
But do we need another technical server for AS JAVA? Are there any restrictions that we have to evaluate?
Best regards,
Gerald
