Can not fully edit Gateway project of other developer.

Former Member

I work in a shared team on multiple Gateway projects. So, we might have to edit each others projects depending on individual availability. However, I can not fully edit another developers Gateway project. The most noteable restrition is the disablity to reimport entities (see attachment).

He is the creator of project. We have the same developer permissions. The project itself has not been transported yet. Editing his project created a new transport.

Can you help me?

Thank you.

HI,

Import -> Properties Feature will be enable only when the Entity Type is Created by using the DDIC Structure.

If you want to edit the properties manually double click on property under Entity Type and use appropriate

option (Insert row/ Append row/ Delete row).

Are you sure about your first statement? There are other projects where I am still able to and those models were based in RFCs.

About your second: Yes, I could manually add those fields. But given there may be N new fields, I rather prefer to import them like I used to.

I just want to rephrase my above mentioned reply.
This feature will be enabled when you do a Import feature on data model.
If you created the entity by using RFC, then you will be able to see the interface name in Run-time artifacts, which was created due to RFC. When you do an Import function on data model It reference to an structure only.
But if you create the Entity Type manually, this feature will not be enabled.
Can you re-validate If you created the Entity by Importing feature only.

I see. Well, there is some history. The Gateway project was initialy created in a Z namespace and has been moved / copied to another namespace. The entities I can not import for are the ones created before the namespace moving.

Is there some way to reenable the import functionality? It is realy handy...

If the original project still exist can you check, property can be imported in same entity there.
As even if we copy the project to another namespace, we should be able to import the property if these were created using Import in data model in original project.

The original project is still there and the data model is still able to import from RFC. I copied, for testing, another working project from the customer namespace to Z namespace and lost again my import functionality.

Check these thing
Are you using 'GWFND' / 'IWBEP' component. What is the SP level for same.

GWFND/IWBEP SP level 8 is not having feature of import in copied project.

You can try upgrading to SP level 10 and above.
Not sure about SP09.

Hi

Can you create a dummy project and check once the same steps with Importing DDIC structure in Data model.

There should be an error in the SAP GUI taskbar below the page showing the person who has locked the project. Ask him to get out of the transaction - SEGW so that you can access it.

The project itself is not locked and there are no errors shnow in the taskbar. Interesting: the project itsels is current made of 7 entities, 1 from myself. The one I added later is the only entry where I still cann import new fields to the entity.
