Hi Roopesh,

Not different to any other... you do an heterogeneous system copy and export your source database and then build your clustered target system.

Is there anything in particular that concerns you?

Hi Reyes,

Thanks for the reply.

I want to know what are the things we have to do before exporting the source system database and things to do before importing.

Any documents related to this would be very helpful.

And one more question.

My source system Kernel release is 7.21 and while importing the sap inst would ask for kernel CD 7.00 release. And my question is do we need to maintain source and target maintain same kernel level.

Hi Rupesh,

This is a heterogeneous system copy, procedure is well documented, let me add that this procedure need to be done by a Certified OS/DB migration consultant to be supported by SAP.

The standard system copy guides contain the steps for the homogeneous and heterogeneous copies. All you need to do is follow the steps for heterogeneous.

Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for the reply.

And what about the question i asked previously about the kernel. Is it possible to upgrade the kernel as a post import step.

Roopesh Kumar.

Kernel can be replaced after the import (Post operations). There are quite a few options how to replace the kernel before the import starts and one such option is if the R3load fails to start the import you can then replace the complete kernel set and retry.
