Workbook Broadcasting - Alternatives

Hello All,

We have a situation where we are seeing lot of issues reported for BEx Broadcasting as we are still using 3x worbooks and pre calc server.I did a lot of research on the alternatives on precal server but did not find any useful information except for upgrade. I need to know

- I understood if we do a technical upgrade to 7x then we get enhanced features but is there anything available in the market to replace Bex 7x Precalculation?

- What tool will be preferred if we move to HANA and need similar to workbook broadcasting?

Hello Abhishek,

My inputs:

- Supported solution for your case does not exist.

The version 3.x is not supported since 2013.  That means, even the workbooks cannot be used anymore.

If you want to keep using the Wb 3.x and Precalculation 3.x functionalities, you can use the SAPGUI 7.20 + BW Addons 3.x + Precalculation Server 3.x

SAP cannot help you in the case of any issue BUT probably will works fine.

- Migrate to version 7.0 is also another option, in fact the only supported option.

There are some limitations related to maximum number of cells which does not exist on BEx Analyzer 3.x

You have also to upgrade the Precalc. Server

Thanks Edward for your prompt response.

The problem statement in my case is that all of our users rely on 3x workbooks with precalc (I know this sounds outdated) and facing lot of challenges in broadcasting. I did research on this and found only option is technical upgrade which will ease certain things but it again has its own set of challenges - Refresh, Size/Cell Limitations etc.

From your statement I understood that there isn't anything available in the market to replace broadcasting/precalc. So I guess we are only left with option where we get our users to switch to Adhoc Reporting on Web/Dashboards using JAVA stack upon BW upgrade and HANA.
