It is true that predictive analysis/statistical software can be more expensive than consumer desktop software, but there are also a number of different packages available, and at different costs. It is also possible that your account manager hasn't looked into the latest pricing materials for SAP Predictive Analytics - we've recently simplified the entire licensing structure.
Probably my first question would be have you already downloaded and tried SAP PA 2.3? There is a free trial (HERE) where you can instantly download the full version. I'd suggest doing this if you haven't already done so because the solution has also got to fit your needs before you even worry about how much it costs.
There are a few factors that can also affect the final license price including your company's existing relationship and license agreement with SAP and in some cases, the products you already own. I would suggest you ask your account manager to contact me internally, or send me in a private message his/her name - we can straighten out the pricing discussion offline.
