Will deletion of ECC client delete the datasource in BW?

Dear All,

Recently we deleted a few dummy clients in our ECC development system.

Our original golden config client for ECC is ED1 client 200.

Test system to load data was ED1 client 220.

We suspect that our BW system was built using the data sources from ED1 client 220, therefore when we deleted this client from ECC, the data flow in BW was affected causing the infopackage, datasource, transformation and DTP below the DSO to disappear as shown in the screen shot below.

The data flow ends at the DSO SIS Sales Forecast and there is no transformation, DTP, datasource or infopackage linked to this DSO.

Initially the data flow was as shown below.

Can anyone confirm that the missing data flow is due to the deletion of client 220 and provide some documentation evidence to prove that or is there any other reason which could have caused this issue?

Please advice.

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,

Rebekah

Can you see your data sources and source system (ED1CLNT200) in RSA1?

Hi Sunil,

When you delete a source system in BW, you will, for sure, delete all transfer rules, transformation, PSA (etc.) linked to this system source.

However I don't think the deletion of an ECC client (on ECC) will have the same impact. Is the system source corresponding to the deleted client still existing in your BW ? did you delete it ?

Dear Frederic,

We did not do any deletion on BW.

All we did was delete the ECC client 220 and now we are not able to the any data sources under our DSOs, which means the transformation and DTP from the datasource to DSO has also gone missing.

Hope this clarifies.

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Rebekah

Anyway, your system is now not usable. Before deleting the ECC client, you should have copied all the transformations you don't want to loose to one of the remaining ECC client (a transport can do this kind of thing).

At this time, I don't think you can easily restore the lost objects. The only way I can think of is to  transport all the lost objects from your QUA or PRD to your DEV.

Frederic

Hi Sunil,

at Bw side, RSA1-->data source, lets try to see, whether your data source is exist or not at respective source system.

Even check at table levels. use tables - RSOSFIELDMAP or ROOSOURCE or RSOLTPSOURCE or RSDS.

check table - RSLOGSYSMAP - whether its have source name as ED1 220 or not.

check whether it shows PSA table for your data source at bw side. table -RSDSTS.

Even check data source exist in Active version or not?

Are you sure about actions at bw side, No one deleted  your data flow by mistake?

Thanks
