Integrated forecast tool

Hello experts,

Does anyone know if anywhere within PP or APO there is a way to forecast based on historical usage (statistical data)?.  We are looking for a  more automated forecasting tool rather than the standard SAP forecast based on future projections?  I realize APO is pretty complex, and probably over-kill for what we want.  Could something be done within BI or with existing functionality in MRP?

Thank you.

are you serious?   What is the actual question?

Most forecasting tools create a statistical forecast on historical usage.   What else would it be based upon?

ECC has almost the exact same statistical models as APO.  APO just has new enhancements and combination of forecasting models.  But the underlying statistical models are the same.

BW is not a statistical tool, so not sure how you can do this in BW.

I understand that. Perhaps I was not clear.  We have parts that fail and when they fail, we need to supply the customer with a replacement or repaired part. We do not keep these in stock. What we'd like to do is avoid a stock-out situation. When a customer needs a replacement part, we should have one to give them, but the problem is how to forecast the demand?  These parts currently are not subject to MRP or forecast.

If we start now with a manual forecast such as 1 per month, we may end up with too many parts.  What we're looking for is a way to input all the dates or time periods that a part was needed to get some sort of model that will allow us to more accurately determine how many parts to forecast in the future.   Some of these are long lead time items as well.

I hope this makes things more clear.

That question is totally different from your first question.  You should be as specific as possible to get an accurate answer.

your second question involves sporadic demand.   That requires special statistical forecasting models that are included in SPP or other 3rd party tools.

Thank you very much for the information. Just one more question, what does SPP stand for?  I have never heard of that 3rd  party tool.

Thank you.
