Reservation creation against a stock item in PM work order

Hi Experts,

Is it possible to prevent the creation of reservation against a stock item in PM work order components? In general it will generate a reservation document for the component with item category 'L' in the components list. But my requirement is to stop creation of reservation at the time of work order creation for the component with item category 'L'.

Is it possible to achieve the above requirement vain any configuration or enhancement? Appreciate your quick response.

Hi,

No it is not possible. Always a RESB record will be created. You should not try and prevent this by enhancement as that would introduce a inconsistency.

Thanks for information.

In our system, we are not using reservations. Once the order is created, the goods issue process is taking place using some sales process like creation of Sales order --> Delivery --> Picking --> Shipment --> PGI. We are not issuing the material with reference to reservation.

So business do not want to have the reservations in the system. That is why my query.

Please Un-Tick Check Box Movement Allowed in component tab-->General Data.

It will then not allowed users to do the GI against Reservation or PM work Order

Yes, currently we are not having that indicator selected. But, we want to eliminate the creation of 'Reservation' at all.

Is it possible by any means?

Hi,

The reservation (RESB) is central to the handling of components added to the order for both stocked and non-stocked materials. So it cannot be avoided that a reservation is created. You can set off the costing and movement allowed flag as mentioned but you cannot prevent the requisition.

If we delete the entry in the below IMG path, will it avoid the creation of the reservation, of course it is NOT advisable. But will it be possible to stop creation of reservation?

Hi,

There is no standard way to achieve this possibility.you can only restrict GI or delete the reservations after business closing but you can not eliminate the creation of 'Reservation' at all.

Hi bro,

There is a setting in IMG path for reservation/ purchase requisition creation for PM order based on order type. There are 3 setting as below:

• Never
• From release
• Immediately

You can choose option 2 "From release" to prevent creation of reservation/ PR during creation. When you release the order system will create reservation/PR.

The IMG Path:

Maintenance and Service Orders

--Functions and Settings for Order Types

----Define Change Documents, Collective Purchase Requisition, MRP relevance

Hi Thien,

In our system, the option 'Never' has been configured in the IMG activity mentioned by you above. Still it is creating the reservation document as soon as we create the order.

My concern is why it is creating reservation. As mentioned in all other replies, if it is not at all possible to stop generation of 'Reservation' against a work order component (Stock item), what is the meaning of that configuration indicator for the field 'PR/Reservation' in work order configuration.

That is a good question. This setting seems more relevant to PR creation than to a Reservation. However following is the F1 help of the same.

When a PM order is closed, the opened reservation is deleted automatically.

And you can config the MRP to do not consider the PM reservation's quantity.

So.. Why do you want to prevent the reservation?

It is no problem even if a reservation is created.
