Refactoring in ABAP editor not available as described in documentation

Extracting Methods from Statements - About the ABAP Development User Guide - SAP Library

inside a method, where code should be extracted (refactored out)

the option to extract isnt available in menu as per docu,

  1. In the context menu, choose Start of the navigation path Source Next navigation step Extract Method ... End of the navigation path or the shortcut (Alt Shift M) to start the dialog box.

The class is global, compiled and opened for change.


where is the option to refactor/extract ?

    The Documentation refers to the Eclipse Plugin ABAP Development Tools. It looks like you are using the ABAP Workbench with the SAP GUI. Unfortunately these options are not available there.

    Answer for now is that in ABAP refactoring remains a basically unsupported tool.

    In eclipse the process works quiet well. Go to the trouble to install is all i can say to all ABAP devs.
