Predictive Analytics (Expert Ananlytics) 2.3 error using any prediction algorithm

Former Member

Hello there,

i'm facing an issue (see screenshot below) while using the single exponential smoothing algorithm from Predictive Analytics(Expert Analytics) 2.3.

I have already had installed version 2.2 of PA, so I decided to install the new one, version 2.3. I've heard about some problems according the installation of Lumira and PA on one system at the same time (see ), so I uninstalled Lumira and PA 2.2 before starting the installation of PA 2.3.

After the installation - no problems or errors occured - i tried to access any prediction algorithm at the prediction-tab of the expert analytics, bur there only appears the error-message "An error occured while performing this operation" (see the gif below - click to play).

Can anyone help or is this a known bug of PA version 2.3?

Best Regards

Andreas

Hello Andreas,

I guess you and I are part of the (few) unlucky guys with a machine where PA doesn't want to install properly. I had the same error yesteday.

FYI, try using a data preparation algorithm such as Partition and see if that works (it worked for me while the other ones failed).

What I did (wihtout uninstalling PA2.2)

- renamed the directories (I actually deleted them):

C:\Users\<your windows user name>\.sappa

C:\Users\<your windows user name>\.sapvi

C:\Users\Public\sappa

C:\Users\Public\sapvi

- restarted my machine

- launched again PA2.3. It did ask me to put back in the license key

Then it worked correctly.

Let us know if this works for you as well.

Maybe before applying Pierpaolo's workaround, more context on the error might help us fix the problem and save the hassle for other users.

My 2 cents

Hi Pierpaolo,

data preparation algorithms are working. But according to Antoine, I'll try to get some more information about the error to help the developers fixing this issue in future versions.

BTW: Well-known IT-solutions like restarting the computer (without renaming the folders) does unfortunately not solve the problem

OK so we have the same symptoms: blocks in 'Algorithms' don't work but blocks in 'Data preparation' work. This is an additional hint for our engineering and I also provided my logs.

Thanks

Hi Andreas,

Sorry for the inconvenience you face -it's not a known bug at least to me.

Can you please provide the log files?

They are usually located here: C:\Users\<your Windows user>\AppData\Local\Temp\sappa\logs.

The name of the log that we are looking for starts with TraceLog.

I will be putting this to the attention of engineering teams.

Antoine

Side-note: Lumira and PA can now co-exist on a single client machine, no need to uninstall anything.

Hi Antoine,

I think I found the right log-file. Here is the last entry, so maybe the developers can resolve this in future versions:

Can you kindly attached your zipped .sappa folder?

It is found here: C:\Users\<your Windows user>\.sappa

Rename the .zip file to .txt to be able to upload to SCN.

Thanks

Antoine

Hi Andreas,

It seems the .sappa is not the one to blame here. Can you anyway please give it a try to Pierpaolo's workaround to see if this can unblock you? Investigations are being done in parallel.

Thanks & regards

Hello Andreas,

in the meanwhile I found out that restoring the previous .sappa doesn't bring back the issue. So in case you just renamed .sappa to something else, you can re-rename it back to .sappa.

The engineering team is looking into this, thanks for your collaboration and patience
