SAP Netweaver 7.03 can't start instance while install ABAP?

Former Member

Hi,

when i try to install this Version of SAP everything goes ok up to point ABAP Start Instance?

My configuration is like follows:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

RAM: 8 GB

HDD: 150 GB free disc space

loopback adapter installed with ip: 10.10.10.10

Host-File: 10.10.10.0 <machne name>

Virtual Memory 16GB

I got this Message in a error box:

"

An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 3 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: Instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 reached state UNKNOWN after having state STARTING. Giving up.). You can now:

  • Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
  • Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
  • Stop the option and continue with it later.

Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW703/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/. "

Next, when i open the Database Manger, there is "only" a MaxDB Database to see, earlier a have both, MaxDB and NSP Databases in the list?

SAPmmc: msg_server.exe -> running, disp+work.exe -> stopped.

For short time they are both running, and disp+work.exe goes offline after a while.

I cant resume installation until i solve this problem , just for note: on 32 bit Windows 7 installation is complete and i can login to SAP System.

Problem still if i try manually to start the instance, after while disp+work.exe is stopped.

Under "Services" i can see that MAXDB and NSP ist started.

Thanks for any help

Mirso

Hi Mirso,

If you give me your email id (using Send Direct message) then I can send you the notes in pdf format.

Cause

There is no official document explains parameter icm/admin_port, also it's not documentationed in RZ11.

When system starts, the ICM admin port is detected automatically by OS starting from TCP port 65000 to the lower free ports untill 10000.

If a port is already in use, it chooses a different one that is available. This continues till it succeeds.

Once ICM successfully binds the port, it sends the login request with this port information to DP, which should use this port to connect to ICM admin

port.

The ICM Admin port is only used for internal communication. This port only accepts connections from the local host.

Default value of icm/admin_port is 65000. The range 65000-10000 is a hardcoded value in the kernel.

Resolution

Set parameter icm/admin_port in the instance profile.

NOTE:If you set this parameter explicitly in the instance profile, it is necessary to ensure that this port is not being used by other process, if

the specified port is not available, ICM fails to start .

Hi Rahaman,

i cant send you private message because we are not connected, but i intalled sap netweaver 7.03 now.

You wrote that icm uses

Default value of icm/admin_port is 65000

an i use netstat to see what process uses this port, and there is some tool from NVidia, i kill that process, and my installation of SAP was successful.

Now try to install the GUI and by start "sapinstgui.exe" comes error message

Error while connecting to communication partner - see preceding messages.

Could not connect to host localhost on port 21212.

java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

Java version is: 1.4.2_19

I never have similar error in my previous installations.

Any suggestion?

Thanks for all help

Hi Mirso,

For analyzing startup issues on the disp+work component within ABAP instances, proceed as follows:

- Completely stop your SAPINST/SWPM;

- Completely stop your SAP system and services;

- Remove all files under /usr/sap/SID/INSTANCE/work

- Start the instance.

As soon as you see your dispatcher grayed out in the SAPMMC right after the startup attempt, go inside your work directory and read the newly created dev_w0 log. The reason for the issue will most likely be indicated on this log file. If you can't find anything on this log, look at log dev_disp as well.

Best of luck,

Ricardo

Hi,

thanks for your Answer i do all what you say, and start the instance again.

Note, i start the install process with second option "continue with previous option" to continue with the previous installation.

And it is the same problem by try to start the instance:

Last error reported by the step: Instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 reached state UNKNOWN after having state STARTING. Giving up.)

BUT for short time i can see both processes  are green in the sapmmc,

msg_serv.exe and disp+word.exe, both are green for a while, and then disp+work goes off and is grayed.

Under Services is MAXDB:MAXDB:Running, MAXDB:NSP->Running.

Should i post here the file? Strange, install.exe didn ask me for a java-path?

Sorry for my late answer, and many thanks to all who try to  help.

Best regards Mirso

Hi Mirso,

Look at dev_w0, inside the "work" directory of the instance.

There you can look for error messages - the reason why the dispatcher died.

Hi Cristiano,

thanks for reply, here i found only this part with error informations:

On the top of a file:

"DpSysAdmExtCreate: VMC (JAVA VM in WP) is not active"

Later in the file

INFO : Database 'NSP' instance is running on 'big'

On the end of the file:

E  EnqLockTableMapToLocalContext: enque/use_pfclock2 = FALSE

No others places in dev_w0 says something about problems, only this on the top of this file:
"DpSysAdmExtCreate: VMC (JAVA VM in WP) is not active"

But is connected to MAXDB and is running, NSP is running to.

But how to solve this WSAEONNRESET and icman connection, is this the problem?

Who causes this event who disconnect from icman?

For short time both processes are running msg_server.exe and disp+work.exe, and then after 1 or 2 minutes disp+work.exe is off.

Hello Misro,

Please check below notes..

1900647 - Parameter icm_admin_port

Hi Mirso,

Look for error messages in dev_* trace files, available in the work directory of your SAP instance.

This should bring additional information on what might be happening.
