Commitment Item Group Based FM Budget Report

Dear Experts,

In FM we can execute budget reports for Commitment Item Group through FMB_B01, FMB_B02, FMB_PT01, FMB_PL01 or FMRP_RFFMEP1AX etc.

All of these reports show Commitment Items balances on individual basis but nothing about total balance of group of these.

Considering a scenario; there are 3 Commitment Items 'CARRIAGE_VAN', MOTOR_BIKE' & 'BICYCLE' which are grouped under a C.I. Group "VEHICLES". Requirement for budget report is to show C.I. Group total on top and its individual Commitment Items totals below it.

For Example:

I have already explored GRR2 -> 4FM but can't find any characteristic value for Commitment Item Group.

Please recommend the solution (either Standard Report, Report Painter or Customization) to meet the requirement.

Regards

Muhammad Waseem

Hi Muhammad Waseem

The 4FM reports use the commitment item variable 4FFIPEX (double-click on the FdsCtr/CmmtItem). You can enter your group in the selection parameters after executing the report group (for example 4FBC).

Thanks

Shyam

Dear Shyamal,

Thanks for your response.

"Commitment Item Group" is not available under selection parameters of Report Group 4FBC. Even if it could be added, my major concern is still there, that is, to show budget consumption breakdown of individual Commitment Items grouped under a Commitment Item Group in T-Code: FM_SETS_FIPEX1. Required breakdown with C.I. Group totals is already mentioned in original thread above. Please read it again.

In GRR2->4FM, as you double click "FdsCtr/CmmtItem" from the row, you can see & add "Commitment Item" variable BUT there is no characteristic value "Commitment Item Group" in Available Characteristics/variables list otherwise there was no need to post this thread.

Still looking for helpful advise.

Hi,

'Groups' are never self-standing parameters; they are always an attribute of the characteristic. So, to have commitment item group, you should simply define the characteristic in this way (attached).

Once it's defined, if you introduce in selection screen your group, the output would be in the way you require.

Dear Eli,

Thanks so much for helpful feedback.

Taking into account the reasoning behind Commitment Item Group, I would like to elaborate the basic requirement by client.

Client's requirement is to show total of Commitment Items (of same nature) on top with a heading exactly like Commitment Items linked to a Funds Center are normally shown in FMRP_RW_BUDCON report.

Required style of report is in above initial thread for illustration.

Please advise if there is any way to fulfill the requirement.

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't understand your doubt. What you require is a simple Report Painter without any specific complications. What is exactly that you cannot achieve? I believe, now you know how to include 'group' in the selection screen and in the output, right? Now, if you run your report by introducing group in the selection screen, the output will be in the way you require. Keep in mind, that if you don't introduce a group as selection parameter, but just enter commitment items, then the output will ignore the hierarchy: you have to introduce the group in selection screen.

Eli

Dear Eli,

I agree with your comments that C.I. Group, being an attribute not characteristic, cannot show totals of individual Commitments Items, falling under its hierarchy, in budget report and can only be part of selection parameters.

Client's expectation was to show all Commitment Item Groups in report whereas due to non-characteristic nature system will show just one group details at one time.

I am all satisfied on my end and now going to close thread with endorsement of your great support.

Indeed, you cannot select two independent groups in the report. But you can always create a 'super group', which includes all relevant (or just all) CI groups. By selecting this super-group in the report, you will have all relevant CI groups in the output.

Dear Eli,

C.I. Super Group is a great great idea. It has solved the whole query in a single step.

For other consultant's reference, it is created in C.I. Group Hierarchy on top and then adding C.I. Groups under it.
