Does it have sense? if you create with reference without pop-up that means this one time customer is not anymore a "one time customer", right? Why don´t you create as a normal customer?
Can you give the process flow overview, Is return created with reference/ without reference etc... I believe in case of with reference, even one time customer data will get copied from reference doc. Then popup should not display right?
