Explorer BI4.1 SP6 Patch 1 and BICS (SAP BW Cube)

Hi ALL,

While going through the Explorer user guide @ help.sap.com (http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sbo41/en/sbo41sp5_exp_user_en.pdf) found below information:-

Information space data source	Description
SAP HANA appliance	SAP HANA database views SAP BW cubes
Universes (*.unv)	SAP BusinessObjects universes created with Universe Designer
Excel spreadsheets	Excel files published to BI LaunchPad
Universes (*.unx)	SAP BusinessObjects universes created with the Information Design Tool
Source unavailable	Deprecated data sources: Sources no longer used by current information spaces, but still available as data sources.

I am not sure if I am interpreting it correctly:-

for "SAP HANA Appliance" data source why it says "SAP BW Cubes", does it means that BICS is supported as connectivity to "Explorer".

Can someone please confirm?

Hi Vivek,

No, BICS connectivity is not supported for Explorer.I guess the guide is referring to HANA on BW scenario.
