Could not find portal version file

Former Member

Hello!

We wanted to install Stack 15 on our test Enterprise Portal. I patched J2EE engine first, that was OK, but when I want to start SAPinst for portal, I received error message:'

ERROR 2006-02-03 12:30:49

CJS-00301 Could not find portal version file.

SAPinst stops. Follow the documentation instructions to

install the portal and then run SAPinst again.

And, indeed, when I tried this link (after the logon)

http://ntsap065:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal//prtroot/com.sap.portal.support.version.default?area=Po...

it doesnt work.

But, the same link for our productive EP works fine

http://ntsap066:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal//prtroot/com.sap.portal.support.version.default?area=Po...

What file we are missing on test portal and is there some way to copy it from productive portal?

Thank you very much! Regards, Neven Ceric, Vienna

Robert, thank you.

I allredy try that, but it didn't help!

That is our test system, and this directory is realy empty.

We have production portal which works fine, I found that file there on prod-server. So I copied it to test-server.

But I still didn't have information in portal under

'System Administraton->Support->Version'.

Then, I copied that file on test server to

'X:\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\portal_misc\versions',

and then it worked!

So, I think it is solution,

I will go further with patch 15 install.

If I have some problems again, I will inform you.

Thanks again,

Hi Neven,

you should have a directory on your test server called:

<Drive>:/usr/sap/<SAP SID>/SYS/global/portal_versions

with a file 6.0.X.X.X.Enterprise_Portal_Support_Release.txt

that specifies your portal platform version.

If the file is not there, that means something with your portal platform installation went wrong so it can't be patched.

Hope this helps,

Robert
