Enhancing C4C / Private cloud

Hello *, one question is bothering me all the time when discussing about C4C vs. on-premise. Are there absolutely no possibilities to enhance the C4C? E. g. some customer specific logic changes in partner determination etc. This is one of the main questions I am faced with when talking with C4C prospects. Belonging to this I read that customers have the possibility to order a private cloud to "do things on their own". Does it mean in this case developments are possible? If yes, where/how to learn more about it? Is there really no possibility to join upgrades as usual in public cloud four times a year? Does anyone have a guide or something else answering these general questions? Thanks a lot. Kind regards Thomas

Hi Thomas,

C4C is available only in the SAP public cloud. SAP currently operates C4C in mulitple data centers e.g. in St. Leon Rot / Germany, Philadephia / US and Sydney / Australia. Other DC locations are planned. If you as a customer subscribe for Cloud for Sales, Service etc. you first have to choose one DC location out of that list and then get a tenant which is operated in a multi-tenancy environment (C4C standard edition -> default). However, if you subscribe for more than 1000 users you can in addition choose the C4C private edition. Does this change anything on the cloud service (in terms of upgrades, downtimes, flexibility for additional developments)? Then answer is: no. Same public cloud service. Same level of solution flexibility. The only difference in PE is, you run on a single system (not in a multi-tenancy environment).

Hello Thomas,

Add-on customization is of course possible upon the standard C4C logic through PDI[Partner Development Infrastructure]. The developers can use the Cloud Application Studio to build these add-on solutions.

You may follow the Cloud Application Studio SCN space @ http://scn.sap.com/community/business-bydesign/studio to keep yourself updated and pose questions.

The space is common for SAP Cloud Solution built on the ABAP Netweaver stack as Cloud Application Studio is the common SDK used on for these applications.\[ SAP Business ByDesign, SAP Cloud for Customer, SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense, and SAP Cloud for Financials].

Refer this help documentation: SAP Cloud Applications Studio – SAP Help Portal Page

I hope this helps.

Thank,
Suraj
