Copying Scheduled start and finish date and time from Maintenance Order to PS Activity

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I have just started working on SAP PS-PM Integration and have following issue:

After scheduling the Network and Maintenance Orders thru CN24N, the Basic Dates are identical in both Network and Maintenance Order.

The problem is that the scheduled date and time is not copied from Maintenance Order to PS Activity. I am using Strict Bottom-Up scheduling.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Supporting Details:

- Scheduling indicator turned off in Control Key for Activity.

In the plant scheduling parameters by order type, OIOC, make sure you have it set to Adjust Basic Dates.

The operations in the order will then determine the basic dates.

Many thanks Ken.

I changed the settings in PM Order and Plant mapping and the Basic Dates are calculated correctly now within Maintenance Order.

The problem is that the Scheduled Date & Time from the Maintenance Order header are not copied onto the parent activity's Scheduled Date & Time.

I have un-checked "Scheduling" from the Control Key of the PS Activity and checked it in the Control Key of Maintenance Order but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where is the PM order account assigned, to the WBS?  Then that is the scheduling link.

Thanks again Ken.

The WBS, Network and Activity fields under Additional Data Tab on the PM Order is the link for assignment.

Btw, I am assigning the Order to a PS activity under the Network which is under the WBS.

The Basic dates of PM Order are correctly moved. The scheduling in PM Order is working fine. Only the dates are not moving up onto the activity's Scheduled Start and End dates and times.

Looking forward to your guidance.

The SAP help states that Networks are scheduled first and then dates are passed to the Service Order header to detailed order scheduling.

I'm not sure you can do what you are asking and pass the order dates upwards.

Since you are scheduling the order first, what is it's anchor for scheduling?

Thanks for your reply.

You are right Ken. This is how it is written for Maintenance Orders.

However, the help states that for strict bottom-up and bottom up scheduling the dates from the subnetwork header become the dates for the parent activity. I am hoping that as the Maintenance Order is a subnetwork of a PS activity, this should work. What is your take on it?

Can you please explain your reference of anchor for scheduling? I am using CN24N with option of "With Subnetworks" and later on "Network and Maintenance Orders", if that is what you mean.

The Maintenance order form the end points of the Network. Now, how is it possible that the end points i.e. Maintenance Order determine a Scheduled End-Date of say 01 Sep, 2015 but the Network independently schedules the parent activity of the Maintenance Order to 29 August, 2015 by not considering the information below where the actual work is taking place.

Thanks again!

When the scheduling algorithm runs it needs to start with an anchor date.  Usually the header basic dates are the anchor.  With bottom up and adjust basic dates that is not the case so the anchor date must be established usually with a constraint like an operation must finish in...

I suggest you put in a SAP Customer Message and see if they can get you an answer how the Network activities and orders relate to each other duriung scheduling.

Got that.

I guess even in case of Bottom-up it uses one of the Basic dates. That was the reason I specified the Basic dates in Order and in Network. Even with Strict Bottom-up, system used the Basic Start date in both cases. But conceptually, I tend to agree with you that when the system will Adjust Basic Dates, it will need an anchor which I haven't specified.

Will do as you suggested and see if this goes any further.

Many thanks for your support all the way.
