Multiple Timezones in a single system

Dear Experts,

we have a situation like.. We are having one ERP production system and its being used by our client across india.

Now we did roll out for that client in US also into same production system.. and the issue is now how to maintain multiple time zones in a same system for financial closings and all.

in SU3, users can be assigned to a specific timezone

We tried that also... Even when we set desired time zone in SU3 or Su01 transaction also... still it is taking System standard time zone only.
