Daily Level Planning in BPC 10

Hi Friends,

I have a requirement for Daily Level Planning in BPC 10. I thinkin to maintain the TIME dimension at Daily level which rolls up to weekly and monthly.

And my another Idea is maintain two dimensions such as "Daily" and 'TIME".

Could you please suggest which is better way to do? and Have anybody perform Daily Level Planning in BPC?

What are the things need to consider?

Thank you in Advance Friends!

Kumar

    Hi Kumar

Is planning going to happen daily or at the day level? I have understood your requirement as the latter one.

It is better to have a single dimension with time hierarchy for easier reporting. The data volume would be huge when planning at day level and you must really be specific when creating input forms to restrict output data set as much as possible.

You should also check on versioning of daily plan if it is required in BPC. If you have to version, better keep a separate model for that and limit it to latest 5-6 plans. Other plans can be backed up in BW. I hope you are having BPC on HANA for better performance.

    • Hi Karsten

I agree to your comments regarding design. Everything eventually boils down to the way design has been done. However, I would not rule out the possibility of versioning daily snapshots till the final requirement says so. That is always a consideration. The original post did ask for things to consider.
