WC27 - BATCH Structure for MRP Run

Former Member

Hi Experts

Can someone please explain to me how the transaction code WC27 works?

We recently had a change in one of our program with regards to running MRP and we would like to test the changes we made if it took effect in this transaction.

Our understanding with WC27 is that it manually runs a Batch job that has to do with MRP Run and this will cause PRs to be created depending on the materials that requires planning. When we tried and run the transaction code, NO PRs WERE CREATED which kind of confused us.

Someone please enlighten us with this.

Thank you and best regards

Natz

Hi,

WC27 is for running the MRP in the background (batch), but we can also do via MDBT.  In MDBT when we create or edit total planning variant,we are running the same program as WC27.  Typically we use just MDBT if We want to create MRP batch jobs.

Hi Vivek

Thank you for the reply. So basically what is the real use of WC27/MDBT? Are these transactions used just to create MRP batch jobs? If yes, then there will be NO purchase requisitions created when this transaction is executed?

Hello,

Check the planning file entry of these materials has been created, this can be checked in transaction code MD21.

If no planning file entries are there then run transaction code MD20 to create the planning file entry individually or run transaction code MDAB to create collectively for a plant, MDAB can find the missing planning file entries of materials and create automatically.

MRP type of that material is MRP related (It should not be MRP type ND.) and MRP is activated for the plant,.

Also run MRP total planning on MD01 same selection as WC27 and check the results.

Hi Brahmankar

I have successfully created a PR using WC27 after I have created a planning file for the material I want to procure. Thank you for you help!

Also, one more thing.

When I have created a Planning File for a material and tried to run the program, it worked and created a Purchase Requisition. But when I tried running the program again, the message "No materials were being planned" I tried creating another planning for the same material and the program worked again. My question is, is it mandatory for us to create a Planning file for the materials everytime we execute WC27?

Hello,

It is not necessary to create planning file entries always, system will generate it.

There is no need to run this transaction regularly, unless otherwise you find a lot of inconsistency. By using MDRE you can do the consistency check.

You can MDAB can find the missing planning file entries of materials and create automatically

Please refer the useful help document,

Hi Brahmankar

Thank you for your reply. Can you elaborate on what do you mean when you saaid that "system will generate" the planning files for materials?

Hello,

Materials that have undergone a changes relevant to MRP

System creates planning file entries automatically like MRP view creation for a material, PIR, BOM, Sales order creation or changes, materials movements stock etc

I suggest you read the discussion

As for the PR's it could depend on the MRP Control parameters selected.
